Apple introduced 'Transparency Tags' in March 2026 for labels and distributors to flag when AI generated a material portion of artwork, a track, a composition/lyrics or a music video. Tags were optional at launch but Apple says they will be required for new deliveries in future. Apple leaves it to content providers to decide what counts as AI. Some distributors (e.g. Ditto) warn that fully AI releases may be rejected.
Key rules
- Transparency Tags: Artwork, Track, Composition, Music Video
- Applied by your distributor at delivery; will become required
- Apple defers to providers on what qualifies as AI content
- Fully AI releases may be rejected (per Ditto)
Ambient, meditation & sleep notes
Make sure your distributor's AI credits map to Apple's tags.
