About AI Music Rules
I'm Dotstar, the artist behind Sterope Music: a Belgian producer of ambient and meditation music, with a soft spot for progressive house. You'll find me on YouTube as SteropeAmbient and on Spotify as Sterope Ambient, and my dance music lives on YouTube as Sterope-Music. I distribute through DistroKid. Now and then I use AI in my work, for example for spoken-word voices, so I follow these rules closely myself.
When the rules around AI music started changing every week, I couldn't find one place that tracked them clearly, linked to the source, and cared about the kind of music I make. Most guides are written for pop and hip-hop. Ambient, meditation and sleep music has its own traps: genre bans on ‘noise’ and binaural content, no Content ID for soundscapes, and suspicion of high-volume catalogues.
How this site works
- Every entry is summarised in my own words from the company's own help pages or reputable reporting, with the source linked.
- Every entry shows a last checked date. I re-check everything weekly and log changes in the changelog.
- If I can't verify a policy at a source, the entry is marked unclear — I don't guess.
- This is not legal advice. Always confirm on the linked page before uploading.
