AI music policy · Distributor

Accepts music made with AI tools as long as you own 100% of the rights, don't imitate anyone's voice or identity, and aren't mass-uploading generic tracks to game algorithms. An 'AI Credits' field lets you declare AI-generated lyrics, compositions or audio, which Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube can show to listeners. AI-assisted mixing/mastering doesn't need a credit.

Key rules

  • You must own 100% of the rights, including the right to distribute AI output
  • No impersonation of another person's voice, likeness or identity
  • No mass-generated spam built to game streaming algorithms
  • AI Credits: declare AI-generated audio, lyrics or composition (not needed for pitch correction or AI mastering)

Content ID / fingerprinting

Not stated on the AI help page; stores may still reject or remove releases that break their own rules.

Ambient, meditation & sleep notes

Currently in the spotlight: UMG's September 2026 lawsuit specifically cites a 'Lofi Chill' account with 4,562 tracks in 12 months, and DistroKid removed some tracks on 12 Oct 2026. High-volume ambient/lofi catalogues are exactly what's being scrutinised — keep release cadence human and credits honest.
